DVD-ROM (Read-Only Media) is the most basic form of DVD disc.

This primarily data storage format utilizes the 4.7 - 18 Billion Byte storage space of the DVD disc for either pre-recorded Computer data, like you would store on a Hard Disk, or CD-ROM, or as a delivery means for a commercially-produced DVD-Video or DVD-Audio disc.
