...about DVD-R (Recordable)
| DVD-R ("DVD dash-r" Recordable) is a write-once form of DVD disc. Similar in function to CD-Recordable (CD-R) DVD-R allows you to store 4.7 gB of many different kinds of information on a recordable DVD disc. DVD-Video authoring companies use them to create "proof" discs to check their work, and they are perfect for small quantity DVD projects that cannot afford to be "replicated". |
Pioneer DVRS-201 is the 2nd generation of DVD-R (Authoring) burner.
Pioneer DVR-110/A10 is the current generation of DVD-R (General) burner. This drive can burn CD, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R DL DVD-R DL.

Pioneer 3.95 GB DVD-R media was the original (1st) generation DVD-R media. In many cases, this media still works well for smaller projects that do not require a full 4.7 GB of storage. Average cost for this used to be around $35... these days, look for it to cost $5.00 or less..
