iDVD uses QuickTime movies, and NOT MPEG streams -
iDVD likes DV QuickTiime movies
iDVD1 encodes at 8 Mbps, although the encoder IS a VBR encoder.
iDVD2 encodes at either 8 Mbps (upt o 60 mins) or 5 Mbps (>60 <90 mins)
iDVD1 only allows stillframe menus
iDVD does not provide AC3 audio, only AIFF ca be used.
iDVD does not loop, or do random functions - use DVDSP for this function.
iDVD1 uses 640 x 480 or 720 x 540 graphics, and it will scale the larger down to fit.
iDVD uses practically ANY graphics file format for button art - just drag it onto the button
iDVD1 does NOT allow a slide show using only ONE audio file for the whole slideshow

iDVD2 allows Motion Menu Backgrounds - use a QuickTime movie
iDVD2 allows using ONE audio file to run underneath multiple graphics slides.
iDVD2 still requires an internal SuperDrive (still, up to 2.0.5)
iDVD2 allows movable buttons in the menu editor - you can rearrange them as you please.

iDVD2 is available in the new iMac top-of-the-line, for $1799 list price!
