Using the RETURN button in your DVDSP projects

What's the philosophy on using the DVD "Return" button and how/when it should be used?

In identifying the best use of the RETURN button, our projects tend to take into consideration the following thoughts:

1 - do we need it? (are TITLE and MENU enough)
2 - will the proposed users "get it" (or will they be overwhelmed?)

In many cases, we have wired the RETURN button to allow an additional "third line of navigation" that goes back to an intermediate but logical location in the project. i.e. not the TITLE menu, but somewhere other than the VTS menu.

It's really best done on a case by case basis, but it CAN be a very useful button, when wired..., er, logically...

If you are going to use it, please remember to let the users know that you have activated it, an dit is avialable to use - so few DVDs actually USE the return function, most people don't bother to check that button unless they know they should.
