DVD COMPANION
"PRO-PACKS"

Everyone wants to get into the act of making High-Concept DVDs using DVD Studio Pro; Apple has thoughtfully provided a SCRIPTING language inside of DVD Studio Pro to allow you to easily enhance the sophistication and extent of the interactivity of your DVD project. Problem is, nobody really knows how to unlock its secrets... until now!

DVD Companion Pro-Pack 2 can be your guide to unlocking these secrets... Every project in this package has been authored and tested by Bruce Nazarian, an experienced DVD Author and creator of The DVD Companion, and contain many DVD Studio Pro scripting "tricks of the trade".

Each project in Pro-Pack 2 is completely self-contained as a template, and is ready-to-use. The projects contained in Pro-Pack 2 are specifically built to exercise the SCRIPTING capabilities of DVD Studio Pro to a great extent. By studying the techniques used in each example, you can gain insight into the proper use of the DVD Scripting language used in DVD Studio Pro, and can add these features to your own DVD projects. It is as simple as copying our script code, and pasting it into your project, in many cases.

Each template contains a fully built and tested DVD project, that you can use as the basis for many of your own DVD Video discs! In addition, Pro-Pack 2 contains many of the special DVD Graphics that have been created for the DVD Companion "Starter Pack - Graphics" collection. These unique Photoshop files and MPEG2 streams are built to the proper dimensions, and are graphic and video building blocks (placeholders) that you can use over and over in your own NEW DVD projects.

Feel free to customize the DVD Projects files to your own taste, but please remember to keep the original version of the "disc file" LOCKED and use it as a stationery pad (assuming you have copied the original disc to your hard drive). This will prevent you from accidentally overwriting the original file.

While building the Pro-Pack 2 projects, it became clear that Scripting would be a little useless unless we also included som information about two of the hot capabilities of DVD Studio Pro - Web-enablement and File-enablement using DVD@cess - You will fine several projects in this PRo-Pack that explore how to create and use web-enabled and local file-enabled DVDs, using the DVD@cess tool that came with DVD Studio Pro.

In order to properly use local file-enablement, you need to know how to build a DVD-Hybrid disc (Video + ROM on the same DVD disc) - There is a complete section in this Pro-Pack about Hybrids, and how to build them, properly! You will find that you will need Roxio Toast Titanium to bet the best mileage out of your Superdrive, and also to BURN your DVD-Hybrid discs when you are done creating them... get Toast 5 here

After you have completed the tutorial project in the manual, and feel confident in using DVD Studio Pro, check out the index of the projects available in DVD Companion
Pro-Pack 2 - Scripting for DVD Studio Pro.
You will find over thirty projects that will teach you about the powerful scripting language contained within DVD Studio Pro.
